Ana Rita Pires Research Assistant

Ana Rita Pires is a Research Assistant in the Nanofabrication, Optoelectronics and Energy Applications (NOA) group at the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL). Her work focuses on CIGS solar cells, with a particular emphasis on cell deposition, contact fabrication through printing methods, and characterization techniques to evaluate and optimize device performance. She is also focused on understanding how processing conditions and surface properties influence the overall efficiency and stability of the solar cells.

Ana holds a Master’s degree in Physics Engineering from NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA), where she developed strong skills in thin film deposition through magnetron sputtering, surface analysis, and materials characterization. Her master’s thesis, carried out at the Surface Science/METROVAC Laboratory in the Department of Physics, allowed her to deepen her knowledge of surface science, thin films, vacuum systems, and sputtering processes, contributing to her current research work in the field of photovoltaics.
