Main Goals

01

We aim to develop a low-cost and ecofriendly Kesterite-based photon absorbing electrode suitable for driving the electrochemical reaction for the generation of hydrogen and ammonia.

02

A charge selective contact layer is essential for efficient extraction of photoexcited charge carriers. The goal of KESPER is to have minimal losses of charge carriers at the interface, in order to ensure lossless supply of photoexcited electrons at the surface for electrochemical reactions.

03

KESPER aims to engineer electrochemically active surfaces for specific reactions to occur at the Kesterite/buffer layer. The stability of the photoelectrode in contact with the electrolyte will be improved by coating with thin oxide protection layers.

04

KESPER aims to construct and test Kesterite-based PEC devices for hydrogen and ammonia generation.
