Farewell to Mariana Oliveira – One Month of Collaboration in Battery Research
This week, the NOA/Salomé Research Group at INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory bids farewell to Mariana Oliveira, a PhD candidate from the Departamento de Física at Universidade Federal do Ceará (Brazil), who joined us for a one-month research stay.
Mariana’s work at NOA was focused on lithium-ion battery research, contributing to our ongoing efforts under the NGS Project, which aims to advance next-generation battery systems with improved performance, safety, and sustainability.
During her time with us, Mariana explored multiple aspects of battery characterization, including:
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy for understanding internal resistance and charge transfer processes.
Cycling tests to evaluate capacity retention and degradation over time.
Battery safety studies, assessing performance under stress conditions.
Advanced degradation analysis to identify failure mechanisms and pathways for performance recovery.
Her hands-on involvement not only provided valuable data for our research but also strengthened the knowledge exchange between our group and Universidade Federal do Ceará. The collaboration exemplifies how international exchanges contribute to accelerating innovation in the energy storage field.
Beyond the laboratory, Mariana integrated seamlessly into the team, engaging in discussions on experimental design, data interpretation, and future research directions. This synergy highlights the importance of connecting global expertise to address technological challenges in the energy transition.
We thank Mariana for her dedication and curiosity during her stay, and we look forward to future opportunities for collaboration. Her contributions will continue to resonate within our broader mission to develop safe, high-performance, and sustainable battery technologies.
